Lynn
Lynn's career in veterinary medicine began when she was a high school student, enrolled in Hawthorne High School's D.C.T. program, from which she graduated with honors. After graduation, Lynn worked as a receptionist for a Gainesville veterinary hospital as well as working part-time for a veterinary marketing pharmaceutical company. Lynn then worked as a veterinary technician with an Alachua clinic until she took 2 years off to have her now 22-yr old son Michael. She worked for a Gainesville vet for thirteen years before finding her place here at Lake Area Animal Hospital 14 years ago. Besides her responsibilities as head vet tech at our Hawthorne location, Lynn has also run her own pet sitting business for the last 14 years.
Courtney
Courtney, who moved to Florida from New York as a child, has been with Lake Area Animal Hospital since August 2006. She lives with her husband Travis and their 7-1/2 yr old son Lucius. Courtney loves the outdoors life and enjoys hunting, boating and fishing. She also enjoys attending Lucius' baseball games and spending time with family and friends. Courtney is an avid American Pit Bull Terrier lover and she, Travis and Lucius share their lives with three APBT's: Trixie, Mona Lisa and Mighty Magnus. She has competed at dog shows and won with Mona Lisa. Her love for the breed began when she was a little girl, but that is also when she first encountered prejudice against the breed because her parents were afraid to own one. Happily for Courtney, her devotion to the breed has converted her family and APBT's are now beloved family members throughout her extended family. Courtney's love for her dogs in particular and the breed in general has made her an outspoken advocate for these family-friendly pups, helping dispell the negative image associated with the breed. She says, "Punish the deed, not the breed!"

Shannon was born and raised in West Palm and moved here in August 2006 to attend school. She is currently enrolled at Santa Fe Community College where she is working toward her AA degree. Upon graduation from SFCC, Shannon plans to attend the Veterinary Technology program at St. Petersburg College and earn her veterinary technician certification. Shannon has been a full-time employee of Lake Area Animal Hospital since September 2006, first as a kennel assistant and then as a veterinary assistant. She lives with her fiancé Tim, their 3 dogs-Charlie, a mini border collie mix, Gator, a dachsund and Tucker, a pit pup-her cat Rambo and a bunny rabbit named SunnyBunny. In her spare time, Shannon enjoys volunteering and fostering kittens for the SPCA of Gainesville, visiting family and friends, and shopping.
Katie (with Simba)
Katie, who joined our team in April 2008, grew up in the Melrose area and is an Interlachen High School honors graduate. Now nearing completion of her A.A. degree from St. John’s River Community College, Katie plans to enroll in the Veterinary Technology program at St. Petersburg College. Katie has always loved animals and had many pets throughout her childhood. She found herself bringing home strays because she just couldn’t look away, even when her parents told her “no more animals”. In her free time, Katie likes to play video games and basketball, go fishing, and spend time with her fiancé Brian, whom she’ll marry in November. Katie shares her life with Max the Chihuahua and 4 cats named Simba, Chino, Gizmo and the newest addition Bella.
